What are 'Proofs' in Photography?

In photography, proofs are preview images provided to customers so they can review their photos before placing an order. Proofs give customers the opportunity to see how their images turned out—such as posing, expression, lighting, and overall composition.

Proofs are typically:

  • Watermarked

This prevents unauthorized printing or downloading while still allowing customers to view the images clearly.

  • Unretouched or very lightly edited

Proofs usually show the photo as it was originally taken. Final images may include additional retouching, color correction, or cropping.

  • Displayed online or provided in print form

Many companies, including ours, deliver proofs through online galleries and PIN-based systems. We also offer printed proof sheets. (by request only

In Short

Proofs are simply preview photos—not the final product—used so customers can select their favorites or request editing before ordering.

We send proof emails and text links to all customers who provide an email address and/or phone number. We do not usually send paper proof, however this can be done if requested. Whenever possible, it is best to send proofs via email to help reduce. Follow the steps below to resend proofs.
